what we believe

begin with song: what we believe

It all starts with God! In the beginning God created… (Genesis 1:1). Creation, certainly in the beginning, but this same creative God is still actively creating today. Through redemption and restoration, because of Jesus Christ, this same God continues to create new life in each of us thereby reshaping and transforming our life’s story. This is the heart of the Gospel message. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him (John 3:16-17). This Gospel message is only ever ours through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the key to the Gospel. Jesus Christ is also the key that unlocks God’s creative potential in each of our lives as well. However, it takes courage and fortitude to allow Almighty God to fashion and shape us as God sees best. Hebrews 10:25-27 encourages us Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Put simply, we need each other! We need each other to laugh and cry, cheer and uplift, as we encourage each other to stay committed to the new creation God is orchestrating. Here at Second Church, we want you to think of us as an extension of your family, your second family. This is what we pray you experience as you take the time to get to know us so that together we may join God’s creative kingdom movement.
